This is a brand new subscription service that Mozilla has just launched. The idea is simple, but very promising: it helps the user locate and then delete their sensitive personal information on data broker websites. You will be able to delete your telephone numbers, email and personal addresses, specifies the foundation known for its browserFirefox.
Better identify exposed data
This offer is integrated with Mozilla Monitor, a free service that alerts you when your email address has been affected by a data breach. It's still possible to use it for a penny, and the data removal tool, called Monitor Plus, is optional. Currently, this service is billed at 14 dollars per month, and 9 euros as part of an annual subscription and it does not seem to be available in France.
In a blog post published for the occasion, Tony Amaral-Cinotto, product manager of Mozilla Monitor at Mozilla, specifies:“When we launched Monitor, our goal was to help people discover where their personal information may have been exposed. Now, with Monitor Plus, we will help people recover their data exposed on data brokerage sites that try to sell it.".
The manager adds:“Our long-standing commitment to putting people’s needs first and our simple, step-by-step process make Monitor Plus unique. Plus, we combine breach alerts and data broker removal to deliver an all-in-one protection tool and help users feel and be safer online.".
As a reminder, Mozilla recently made a rant against the new App Store guidelines applicable in Europe. She is not the only one, and companies like Spotify and Epic Games are also opposed to it. We invite you to goreread our article on this subject here.
