Unsurprisingly: the original Apple Watch will not support watchOS 5

Yesterday took place
WWDC 2018 keynote, and with it, its share of new features
presented on stage, details of which can be found in
our full summary
. And while iOS 12 was announced compatible with
same iPhones as those supporting iOS 11, and even that an effort was made to
optimize the functioning of the OS on the oldest iPhones, to
watchOS is not the same story. Indeed, the new version 5 of the OS
of the Watch, which should be released this fall, will leave the first Apple
Watch on the tile
.

WatchOS 5 will therefore not be able to be installed on the Apple Watch from the very first
generation, often nicknamed the Apple Watch "0", compared to Series 1, 2
and 3. This is the very firstmodel released in 2015
initially
.

This was to be expected one day or another, with Apple regularly adding
new functions to watchOS, the limited processor of the first Apple Watch
obviously can't keep up anymore.

But the announcement remains a hard blow for owners of this version of the
shows, and there are many, as we saw innotre
recent survey of Apple Watch wearers
.

On the other hand, Apple Watch app developers will be able to go further
away with their creations. They free themselves from the need for their apps to
run on the very first Apple Watch with ultimately little processor
powerful compared to newer versions.
