Niantic, the development studio to which we owePokémon Go, manages the updates of its game in a verystrategic. The lastupdatemajor released last June in fact added the possibility of seeing the playerstrade Pokémon. And this new version of the game would have allowed it to regain revenues generated in in-app purchases as high as those at its launch in 2016. At the same time, anew major update is planned for the end of 2018. It should provide a long-awaited mode allowingbattles between players:
It was on June 19 that Niantic added a new Pokémon trading feature to its successful game. You should know that over the two months preceding this new feature, the revenue generated in-gamedid not exceed $1.8 million per day.
But the update has visibly motivated users to checkout more often, with revenues increasingat 2.5 million dollars per day since its release. This corresponds to a39% increase, or $700,000 per day.
Strategically, Niantic also updated its game at the very beginning of summer. However, sunny days tend to invite players to put on their Pokémon hunter caps. The effect is then double over these last weeks. They benefit both from the new features introduced in the game, and from longer, sunnier days.
By this winter, revenues generated by the game shoulddescend at a cruising speed, before probably knowing anew peak at the end of the year. Niantic has indeed planned a new update at this time. This will notably introduce the “player versus player” game mode. And many fans are waiting to finally see his Pokémon fight those of other hunters.
Thus, the update would allow Niantic torevive the attraction for his gamein the middle of “low season”.
