Last February,Samsung unveiled the first foldable smartphonegeneral public, theGalaxy Fold. This will be marketed on April 26 at a price of $1,980. The first journalists and influencers have had the device in hand for a few days and are having problems with the display.
Before the marketing of this smartphone, expected for its innovative concept, Samsung sent several units to tech journalists and specialist influencers. Only the latter report on social networks, problems with the screen not working well, ornot at all after 1 or 2 days.
Among the various problems raised by the testers, there is debris which becomes lodged at the hinge, causing damage.unsightly bumpson the screen andpotentially break it. This is notably what happened to journalist Dieter Bohn from the site The Verge.
There is likea protective film on the screenof the Galaxy Fold, which should not be removed according to Samsung. Except that this is not clear to the user, after removing it without knowing it, the screen of the Galaxy Fold of Mark Gurman of the Bloomberg newspaper stopped working.
The screen on my Galaxy Fold review unit is completely broken and unusable just two days in. Hard to know if this is widespread or not.pic.twitter.com/G0OHj3DQHw

In other cases, where the film has not been removed, there are also problems withpart of the screen flickeringand showsobvious signs of malfunction. This is what we can observe on the model of journalist Steve Kovach of the CNBC channel.

American tech YouTuber MKBHD also reports that his copy stopped working after trying to remove the protective film on the screen.
PSA: There’s a layer that appears to be a screen protector on the Galaxy Fold’s display. It’s NOT a screen protector. Do NOT remove it.
I got this far peeling it off before the display spazzed and blacked out. Started over with a replacement.pic.twitter.com/ZhEG2Bqulr

Samsung collected the various “faulty” models to investigate the source of the various problems and new units were returned. They specify that this famous film should not be removed as this could damage the screen.
These are the first returns which risk chilling the first orders, or even completely compromising the launch of the Galaxy Fold, scheduled for April 26.
