- Apple would add a “Capture” button to its 2024 iPhones
- This would be a capacitive button and not mechanical
- And it would be offered on all models of the iPhone 16 series
Withl’iPhone 15 Pro et l’iPhone 15 Pro Max, Apple has brought a lot of new features regarding design. In addition to having equipped these two models with a titanium frame, the firm has also replaced the button to activate silent mode with one.bouton Actionwhich offers new functionalities, since it can be personalized by the user. But apparently, as soon as next year, new changes could arrive with the iPhone 16 series.
In an article published this week, our colleagues at MacRumours discuss a new Apple project called “Capture Button” which would be under study for the iPhone 16 series. This new button would be planned for all models in the series, but not only for iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. We don't know what this will be used for. But MacRumours indicates that instead of being mechanical, this button would be capacitive. In essence, it would be a button similar to the home button that we had on the iPhone 8, but positioned on the edge, next to the power button.
And that's not all. Apple is also planning to replace the current Action button, which is mechanical, with a capacitive button. Like the “Capture” button, this new capacitive Action button would be offered on all models of the iPhone 16 series.
Bigger changes
Still according to the MacRumours article, the iPhone 16s should have a new camera bump design. In addition, on the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, the firm would increase the size of the screen. On the iPhone 16 Pro, this screen would increase from 6.1 inches to 6.7 inches, while on the iPhone 16 Pro Max, this would increase from 6.3 inches to 6.9 inches.
But as usual this information is not official. And therefore, they should be considered with caution. Additionally, MacRumours clarifies that its article is based on pre-production models, which means that Apple can still reverse certain decisions.
Regarding capacitive buttons, the site indicates that Apple has already considered using capacitive buttons on the iPhone 15 series. But the tests were not satisfactory, and the firm would have ultimately used mechanical buttons.
