once a legendary series of RPGs on Megadrive, at a time when the genre was
totally anecdotal: Phantasy Star. A few years later, in
1997, Final Fantasy VII from Square Soft democratized the RPG. A few months
even later, on Dreamcast, Sega launched a revolution by offering the
first RPG playable online on consoles: Phantasy Star Online. There
Afterwards, we know it: the Dreamcast gives up the ghost and many
variations of the game will be released on Gamecube. But never real
suite.
This will be corrected in 2012 since Sega has finally announced a
Phantasy Star Online 2, on PC, PS Vita but also on smartphones and tablets
iOS like Android!
The good news: the game will be free on all platforms. He
You will only have to pay money to buy certain items allowing
to evolve in the game. The other good news: the game will be
“cross-platform”, that is to say that PS Vita players will be able to face in
online PC players… Unfortunately this will not concern the versions
Apple and Android, which will of course be more technically modest and therefore
simplified. Nothing says you can't play against a player on Android
from our iPhone, but we will not be able to play against a PC or PS player
Vita.
For the moment, we know that the PC and iOS versions will arrive by the end
2012 in Japan, while some private Beta Test phases take place
which will start this summer. The PS Vita version is planned for early 2013
and the Android version is not yet dated. We hope that the versions for
France will come out immediately.
In the meantime, Sega revealed this trailer revealing a cutscene
created for the occasion and which sets the tone. We can't wait!
