Having arrived in stores a few days ago, the iPhone 12 mini and 12 Pro Max, like the two other versions of iPhone 12 released a little earlier this month, have been scrutinized for disassembly. The videos of the latter have multiplied over the last 48 hours, and iFixit, a reference in the field, has obviously lent itself to the game in turn.
By tacklingl’iPhone 12 mini, it didn't seem like there were any big surprises when it opened. Indeed, the components of this mini phone are very similar to those present on the other three versions of the iPhone 12. But what is surprising is the extremely compact format in which all these components are nested.
iFixit says it is impressed by the ability of Apple engineers to have managed to fit such an imposing camera, the same as on the iPhone 12, into a much smaller chassis.
The battery: the real Achilles heel of the mini
But the main criticism made of this phone quickly comes to the fore. If the camera has an honorable place within the phone “this may have been to the detriment of the already paltry battery life”explains the site dryly.
Indeed, the battery of this iPhone mini is its Achilles heel. However, the phone had the same components asl’iPhone 12, in a more compact format, eagerly awaited by customers of the Apple brand.
But an 8 Wh battery in this iPhone is far too little. This is certainly more than what was installed in the 2020 iPhone SE, but it is significantly less than the battery of the “classic” iPhone 12 measured at 10.7 Wh.
