We had
promised HomeKit products for next week and finally they are
even a little early. It was Elgato who opened the ball yesterday and since
several manufacturers followed suit.
Before starting, let's remember that Apple's solution allows you to control
devices via iPhone at home and access them from anywhere in the
world via Apple TV which then serves as a relay. We can thus
combine actions such as turning down the heating when the user closes the
door of the connected lock… This is obviously only a small example.
While waiting to discover the extent of what the manufacturers have in store for us,
here are always the first to arrive:
Let's start with Insteon which already offers a whole range of connected objects to
the iPhone and which today presents a Hub at $149 which should make it possible to
make the entire range compatible with Homekit
Caseta, well known to home automation enthusiasts, is also there and
offers an updated version of its smart lighting system. If the
new buyers should be able to afford the starter kit for $230,
those who already have the previous version will only have to change the hub to
they too can benefit from homekit.
iHome did not miss the start either and will offer orders from the
next week a SmartPlug capable of rendering any object
clever. This is an American version, let's just hope that the
version compatible with our power outlets arrives quickly
Let's continue with ecobee3 and its Homekit compatible connected thermostat
capable of managing several rooms thanks to sensors, but also of
respond to Siri with your finger and eye.
What do you think of these first objects?
