The next Apple Watch could detect drownings and call for help

The latest patent spotted byApple Insidersuggests that the Apple Watch Series 6 could include a new feature capable of detecting cases of drowning and calling for help. The sensors of the next connected watch from the Apple brand would be able to know when you are sweating, swimming or potentially drowning.

Preventing drownings, but not only…

To do this, this new functionality dedicated to the Apple Watch would also be based on your calendar and your location data. The diary will be used for example to know if you have a diving course, for example. With this information, the smartwatch could then determine why you are in the water and whether it is likely that you accidentally fell into a river or similar. The water should also be analyzed by the Apple Watch's sensors to see if the amount is a sign that you're taking a shower or fell off a boat.

If Apple Watch detects a risk of drowning, it could notify authorities while providing your location.

The quality of water (salt, fresh, etc.) and the risks of exposure to it would also be the subject of this new option. On this subject, the patent states: “Another sensor may be designed to detect bio-materials such as dangerous pathogens which, if detected, may trigger a warning to avoid entering the body of water or leaving the body of water if it is already penetrated. Another sensor could be used to detect chemicals in water etc.».

Finally, the icon showing a shark suggests that the Apple Watch will be able to tell its user if they are in a dangerous place.

As usual, Apple should present its new connected watch at the same time as its next iPhones next September. Even if this is only a patent, it would not be so surprising if this option arrived on the Series 6,because the apple brand is turning more and more towards the field of healthwith his watch.
