Since the introduction of the first iPhone by Steve Jobs in 2007, Apple has continued to optimize it. Whether in terms of design and performance, the progress made is impressive.
In a publication on the social network[X],Basic Apple Guyshared an interesting graph on the evolution of iPhones, and more precisely their thickness.
3G and 3 GS are the most overweight
Looking at the graph, we notice thatthe thickest iPhone is the 3G, tied with the 3 GS. The two smartphones indeed reach12,3 mm, followed closely by the first edition of the telephone, which made11,6 mm.

After these first three rather robust editions of the iPhone, Apple madea huge leap forward with the iPhone 4. This is the version that has benefited from the biggest change in terms of thickness, with9,3 mm. Or a gain of1,7 mm.
A quick aside regarding the iPhone 4, which is the one that inspired the frame present on current models, with more right angles, and the flat back.

The iPhone 5 followed the same path, but from the 6, the Apple firm returned to a more rounded design, until the 11. Since the iPhone 12, until now, the iPhones have found a less rounded frame.
The thinnest iPhone
Coming back to the thickness of Apple phones, the latter no longer fluctuated as much after the release ofl’iPhone 5, Whopropose 7,6 mm. The prize for the thinnest goes to the following model.
With6,9 mm, the iPhone 6 is in fact the thinnest ever offered by Apple.

This is a prototype ofApple PowerBook G5.G5 being an old processor developed by Apple, but who wasonly offered on desktop central units. This was because it produced a lot of heat, and therefore it was not suitable for a portable format. Apple tried it anyway, and as you can see, the result is a laptop that is way too big, because of the many fans it has.
