Adjust the white balance of your Apple TV with… Face ID

Until now, if the colors of the image broadcast on your Apple TV did not suit you, you had to adjust them manually from the settings of the box or your screen. Not very practical. The manufacturer has therefore imagined a fairly original option to replace this system. It calls on the sensorTrueDepthwhich is installed on the front of several iPhone modelslike the XR.

As you can see in the screenshot below, the operating system then asks you to place your mobile with the front face parallel to the television. A calculation using Face ID technology, which allows the base to unlock iOS, then takes place. Then the two devices communicate and the video stream updates, changing thewhite balance. Easy as pie.

Several compatible editions

So, certainly, few usersare really used to adjusting this parameter which is generally found at the bottom of an unexplored menu. But the initiative is commendable, what's more it doesn't seem to us that another manufacturer offers such a solution. However, this could quickly become quite practical if it is put forward by Apple, for example to view family vacation photos in order to make them more faithful to reality.

The newsApple TV 4Kannounced at the same timeis obviously compatible, just like its HD version and previous versions. Other prerequisites: having installed the tvOS 14.5 update. Finally, the iPhone must run iOS 14.5.
