Summary of tonight's keynote: IOS 7, OSX Mavericks, iTunes Radio…

After long months of waiting, rumors
incessant, truthful and wacky, we're finally settled on where iOS is going
become. Obviously, Apple's mobile OS was not the only one to be updated.
the honor of this evening which can easily be described as good
filled.

To make sure you haven't missed any of today's iOS announcements
7, but also OSX 10.9 and everything else, we offer you as
usually, a complete recap of this first keynote of
2013.

Some figures

An Apple conference wouldn't really be an Apple conference if it didn't
did not begin with some striking figures aimed at saluting the
users, but also developers. For this WWDC 2013, Tim Cook
was not unworthy and here are the main figures of the day:

  • 71 seconds to sell tickets for WWDC 2013
  • 1 million visitors every day in Apple Stores around the world
    entire
  • 50 billion apps downloaded in 5 years from the App Store, but that's it
    already knew
  • 900,000 applications available including 375,000 dedicated to the iPad
  • 10 billion dollars returned to developers
i.e. 3 times more than all other App Stores combined.

Anki Drive: smart little cars

To my knowledge, this is the first time that Apple has offered a company
emerging the first of the scene of a keynote…. After a little problem
technical, the CEO of anki, alone on stage, finally got his little ones working
cars.

On a track unfolded for the occasion, intelligent cars are
capable of overtaking each other or even moving together. Halfway between robotics
and artificial intelligence, Anki drive will be controlled via an iOS device well
obviously. What a launch!

After this fun interlude, it’s time for serious things!

OSX Mavericks: speed, fluidity, energy saving

While the PC is experiencing difficulties, which Tim Cook did not fail to
notice by tackling for example Windows 8, the Mac seems to be doing quite well
with 100% growth over the last 5 years.

This year, we did not know the name of the new version of OSX.
After a few touches of humor, Craig Federighi presented OSX Mavericks and
its new features.

We start with 3 features

  • Finder Tabs: the Finder has been revised and will now be
more practical allowing you to better juggle with windows and views and can
    even display in full screen
  • Tags: documents can now be tagged
to make them easier to find
  • Managing multiple screenswhich allows you to use a
second screen as an extension of the first. Apple TV can also transform
your television as an additional screen.

Obviously, OSX Mavericks will bring many other new features
some of which will be particularly good for the autonomy and health of the
processor.

App Nap allows, for example, to limit energy consumption by not
dealing only with what is visible to the user.

Without going into details, with OSX Mavericks, our Macs should be
faster and more energy efficient.

Safari also received a refresh with a brand new
'sidebare' including playlist, links shared by contacts…
Safari has also been optimized to be faster and, also, more
thrifty.

Apple has finally decided to get into password management. Baptized
iCloud KeyChain, the service is in some ways a
1Password with Apple sauce. Password or credit card management,
auto-completion, everything is there for the security and comfort of users,
but…only in Safari.

The Notification Center has been opened to more apps. The push
also appears on Mac.

As expected, OSX Mavericks will bring Maps to the Mac.
The application can also communicate with the iPhone to transfer by
example a route. Obviously, FlyOver was not forgotten and we even
was able to take a little trip to Paris. You can also search for a restaurant and
send everything to the iPhone

The Mac calendar has undergone a nice refresh which makes it much less
cheesy. Obviously, he will be able to communicate with Maps and thus prevent
the user that it is time to leave.

iBooks is also there and will provide access to the entire library
currently available on iOS.

OSX Maverick will be in the hands of developers today and
will arrive this fall on our Macs.

MacBook Air: more powerful, faster and puncture-proof

Apple has particularly worked on the autonomy of its MacBook Air which
integrate the 4th generation of Core Intel processor.

No Retina screen this time, but these new MacBook Airs are
available immediately. They are accompanied by a new version of the
borne Airport.

Mac pro: a competition beast

Completely redesigned, the new MacPro is not only beautiful, it is also
efficient. Everything inside is huge: 4-core processor, 2 ECC RAM
times faster, latest generation Flash memory, Thunderbolt 2, 2 cards
AMD graphics, 4K compatibility…

As you can see, this is not a machine for everyone. In addition to
this, the new Mac pro is particularly compact compared to its
imposing predecessor.

iWork flies into the clouds

Now it's high time to talk about iOS. After extolling the merits
of iCloud and its derivatives, Tim Cook handed over to Roger Rosner for the
iWork for iCloud overview.

Now in a browser version, iWork will therefore appear
on Windows via a web app. It will therefore be possible to create documents,
publish them all over the world. Page, Keynote or Numbers are the
part.

iOS 7: a new beginning for iOS

With 600 million devices sold, iOS is a major player in the sector
which takes up a lot of space on the web. According to Tim Cook, 97% of users
of iOS are satisfied and, with this new version, things should not
not change too much.

In the introductory video, Jony Ive presents his work and the less than
What we can say is that there is change. Everything has been reviewed from top to bottom
full and yet seems so familiar.

Aesthetic and, in my opinion, particularly beautiful, iOS will take a new
start with this new version.

All the fonts are new and we find the one seen on the poster. Of
the locked screen to the home screen, everything is finer. We also find
the icons seen this morning in the 9to5 Mac article. Overall, those who
who appreciate flat design should get what they pay for.

iMessage, Calendar, Clock, Stocks, Weather everything has been redesigned
icon to the application. For example, in the weather app, a wallpaper comes
illustrate the weather.

Apple also focused on gestures and swiping, and folders
can, for example, contain several pages… Finally!

Mail has taken on a little air of mailbox which does not displease us.

Some new features of iOS 7:

Since everything is not just design, here are some new features presented for
the opportunity:

  • Control Centerallows you to swipe to access the
    most used settings

  • Multitasking for everyonewith preview

  • Safari has also been revised with a full screen mode, easier access to
favorites, iCloud Keychain integration, simplified design and management
    particularly interesting tabs.
  • AirDropalso makes its appearance allowing the
file transfer via peer to peer or WiFi between iPhone, iPad and Mac

  • 4 cameras and filters are now included in the Photo app
which seems very promising and which groups the photos in places,
    year…

Obviously, Siri has not escaped the redesign and will even offer
new voices. The assistant can now also access the settings and, through
example, turn off WiFi.

Siriis now part of our trips in
car with iOS in the Car. Obviously, you will need a vehicle
compatible…

For his part,l’App Storealso offers new
features like location-based apps or a child category that
parents will love it!

The music app has also been revised and will now offer numerous
gestures.

In addition to all this, iOS 7 will bring tons of other new features like
facetime audio, l’annotation de PDF…

iOS 7 will be availablein beta for developers from
Today
and for the common manhas
autumn
. It will arrive on iPhone 4 and above, iPad 2 and Plus and iPad
mini and only on iPod touch 5G

Included in the iOS music app, iTunes Radio aims to make us
discover new songs through 'radios' created on the basis of a
morceau.

These radios can then be shared, consulted and above all listened to
by everyone. By listening to the song, the user will be able to say if they like
or not and thus obtain more efficient results.

iTunes Radio is free with advertising except for iTunes Match subscribers who
will not be entitled to advertising. The service will be available on iOS, Mac, PC and
Apple TV.

What do you remember from this conference and what did you appreciate the most?
The floor is now yours!
