Apple is preparing a new iPhone chip, specialized in optimized battery management

Over the years the firm of
Cupertino is moving more and more towards in-house design of
components of the iPhone to optimize the performance of the software package
and hardware, after recently choosing to create its own chips
graphics, Apple could prepare a new chip.

Indeed, according to a new report from the Japanese newspaper Nikkei Asian
Review, Apple would be working internally on anew iPhone chip
dedicated to energy management
in order to optimize the autonomy of
the device from 2018 with the aim of equipping all iPhones with
2019.

For several years, the British firm Dialog Semiconductor has been designing
the battery management chips that equip current iPhones.

If this report is confirmed, it would be a very big blow for Dialog
Semiconductor, because Apple currently represents 75% of the company's revenues
Company.

This chip takes care of managing the battery and its recharge capacities, as well as
as the energy consumption of the different components of the iPhone.

According to Nikkei Asian Review sources, Apple's chip would be
much more advanced than what currently existson the
market, and should allow very fine and precise control of resources
energy, which would result iniPhone with better
autonomy
for users.

The Taiwanese manufacturer TSMC would take care of the manufacturing of this
new energy management chip made in Apple.
