iPhone 16 Pro: the amount of storage possibly doubled, but for what purpose?

The much-maligned Twitter account LeaksApplePro has just dropped a little bombshell. According to the latter, Apple would consider doubling the storage space of the iPhone 16 Pro in basic configuration. Hear that instead of 128 GB, the cheapest iPhone 16 Pro would come equipped with256 Go de stockage.

Apple could be considering launching the iPhone 16 Pro with a 256GB base storage.https://t.co/szT5ulvaNv

Except that,as explained by our colleagues at 9to5Mac, to date, there is no evidence to support this hypothesis. The ad itself doesn't even say what basis it is based on.

Beyond delivering yet another dubious rumor about the next generation of iPhone expected in September and thus attracting the wrath of certain publications calling for “buzz hunting at all costs”, LeaksApplePro poses the finger on a crucial subject:storage capacity on iPhone.

Remember that to date, the iPhone 15 Pro is sold with a minimum of 128 GB of storage, unlike the 15 Pro Max model, which starts at 256 GB of storage. We know that the trend is towards increasingly larger file sizes for everything on our smartphones: photos, videos, music, conversations, etc.

A trend that Apple has also clearly sensed by increasingat the end of last yearthe amount of storage available on iCloud (with new iCloud+ offers at 6 and 12 TB).

But if a small portion of iPhone buyers may actually need such quantities of gigabytes,Aren't the majority of users satisfied with a much more reasonable figure?

In other words: isn't the current 128 GB of the iPhone 15 Pro enough in most cases?

Would there be a real benefit for consumers in not having a 128 GB option? The risk for the Californian firm, by offering a minimum storage of 256 GB, is to create too big a gap in range with the non-Pro iPhones. Especially since, generally, who says increased storage, says reason for Apple to inflate prices.

So, don't hesitate to tell us in the comments if, for your iPhone, 128 GB seems sufficient to you or if you would really need more space, even if it means paying the price.
