Samsung unveils Galaxy Z Fold 5, Flip 5, Watch 6 and Tab S9

  • Samsung revealed the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5
  • Galaxy Tab S9, S9+ and S9 Ultra tablets compete with iPad Pro
  • Connected watches (Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic) are also released

Yesterday, during its traditional Unpacked conference which is reminiscent of the Apple Event format, Samsung unveiled two new folding smartphones, connected watches and tablets. No smart ring on the horizon, contrary to what some media speculated, but the all-newSamsung Galaxy Z Fold 5has indeed been confirmed with a 6.2-inch screen when folded or 7.6 inches unfolded. On the photo side, the manufacturer offers a triple sensor on the back (50 + 12 + 12 megapixels) and a 12 megapixel wide-angle sensor on the front.

At the same time, Samsung also presented the Galaxy Z Flip 5 which this time folds widthwise and without hesitation adopts the codes of its predecessor. Here, the panel offers a refresh rate of one hundred and twenty images per second with eight or twelve gigabytes of RAM, for a 3,700 mAh battery and fast charging up to twenty-five watts. We know that Appleworkalso on a flexible screen for several months, but it is currently difficult to know whether or not the associated product which will perhaps be released in stores will come close to these technical characteristics.

Clearly facing the Apple Watch, Samsung also took care to lift the veil on watches eagerly awaited by the Android public: the Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic. Here, the Korean offers us circular slabs with a diameter of 1.5 inches, whose format is positioned as much more natural than the rectangular one of the knobbed alternatives.

But the operating system is therefore not proprietary, even if the manufacturer thought of integrating an in-house chip under the hood: an Exynos W930 engraved with a precision of five nanometers. The result is a launch of apps announced as 34% more efficient, even if the previous versions of this collection of wearables were already proving to be rather fast on a daily basis.

Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra: an alternative to the iPad Pro?

Finally, note that Samsung has also updated its range of high-end tablets with three models: the Galaxy Tab S9, S9+ and S9 Ultra. It is on the latter that we will focus, because its capabilities can easily be compared to those of Apple's premium models: the iPad Pro.

Here, however, buyers will be able to enjoy advantages not found at Cupertino, including IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, but also a large 14.6-inch screen for the Tab S9 Ultra (compared to 12, 9 inches for the large iPad Pro, 12.4 inches for the Tab S9+ or 11 inches for the Tab S9 and the small iPad Pro).
