The developers of the LastPass app recently published a report on the use of their iOS app over the last few months. Specifically, they looked at the impact of the new third-party password manager integration feature in iOS 12.
Because since this version of iOS, compatible password managers can benefit, like Safari's “Keychain Access”, from abetter integration into the system.
No need to open the third-party app, find the password in question, copy it then paste it in the appropriate box.
According to LastPass therefore, since iOS 12, users aremuch more active than under iOS 11. The increase in LastPass usage on iOS between version 11 and 12 is23 %. Otherwise, users take advantage of LastPass to identify themselves on50% more websites with iOS 12 compared to iOS 11.
Finally, this progression in the use of LastPass on iOS allows the service to count, among its users on all platforms,94% of users under iOS 12.
The benefit is therefore significant for third-party password managers, with this new functionality. It is also a sign of openness on the part of the Californian firm. The latter somehow sacrifices its access keychain, much less powerful than password managers, to open up to the use of the latter.
