Study: the habits of iOS gamers scrutinized

The stats reveal
sometimes curious habits that we would be far from imagining. For example,

This study comes to us from the Informations Solutions Group institute, in
partnership with Popcap. It was made in the USA and England on 1004
people representative of mobile users, chosen from a
sample of 2301. And here is what it reveals point by point:

  • In 2011, 25% of mobile gamers spent money on purchases
    integrated and 14% in purchasing game-specific currencies.
  • There was a 29% increase in the number of mobile owners who played
    at least one game during the year, over the same period.
  • The average age of the mobile gamer is 39.5 years old
  • The average age of those who ONLY play on tablets is 44.7
    ans.
  • 36% of gamers on mobile platforms own a tablet.
  • 1/3 of mobile platform owners play on tablets, 2/3 do not
    only play on the phone.
  • Tablets are more popular than phones when it comes to
    concerns video games.
  • The platform of choice for games is becoming the
    tablet.
  • In 2011 96% of mobile gamers played at least once a week.
    This figure was 84% ​​in 2010.
  • The percentage of people playing daily increased from 35% in 2010
    to 45% in 2011.
  • The two biggest sources of appeal for mobile gaming are
    respectively their free and the acquisition of a new device.
  • Online social gaming declined slightly year over year (none

  • 51% of mobile gamers in 2011 spent money on purchasing a
    game or game-specific content or currencies. The most popular purchase
