According to this rumor Apple will not launch an M3 chip this year

Analyst Tech_Reve on Twitter has just posted a new message. According to him, Apple should not produce M3 chips this year. The launch of this new generation of processor will take place next year. Produced bythe Taiwanese company TSMC, this chip must use 3nm technology for the first time.

But several problems in large-scale production led to a significant delay in marketing. Initially Apple wanted to follow the pace set last year with a launch of the M3 chip in the coming months. Ultimately, the Apple brand prefers to play it safe and wait until its technology is functional before launching it on the market.

No chips, but new MacBooks?

If Apple intends to take its time with regard to the development of its M3 processor, this does not mean a slowdown for Apple's computers in general. The first beneficiary of this chip, MacBooks should continue to develop and a new model is expected later this year.

WWDC which opens on June 5 should be the ideal time to launch this new device. Apple will use the conference dedicated to developers to present a 15-inch MacBook Air, a new format for such a computer. Thanks to this size, the device should embed an M2Pro or M2Max chip depending on the configurations.

Here again, this is a great first for Apple, which had never offered its MacBook Air an “advanced” version of the M series chips. A launch during WWDC would thus echo the schedule followed by Apple last year. the latter which had already presented new computers at this conference.

The launch of this new MacBook Air comes a few weeks after the publication of Apple's quarterly figures.Computer sales are in free falland after the surge in demand linked to the pandemic, it is dead calm.
