SFR bought Prixtel and no one saw anything

According to information shared byEchoes from the Internet, the second French operator offered the MVNO Prixtel on June 25. What is surprising is that almost no one seems to have noticed it since, so much so that the operation is already raising a number of questions. Among them, the amount of the deal which has not been officially confirmed as is often the case in this type of case.

However, some analyst calculations allow us to arrive at a total of six million euros, but this figure remains a hypothesis. This is not the first time that one of the country's leading ISPs has signed such an acquisition:already a few months earlier, Bouygues had acquired the services of Euro-Information Telecom for nearly half a billion.

A nice gift for Altice

With four hundred thousand paying subscribers, Prixtel is a major new asset for Patrick Drahi. The supplier is also known for charging prices that are sometimes very aggressive, with for examplean offer under five euros giving access to 20 GB of mobile data. For this price, SMS, MMS and calls are unlimited while roaming in Europe is limited to half as much data.

Renowned for its no-commitment packages, Prixtel initially allowed you to choose your network between that of Orange and the antennas of SFR. Since this year, however, only the latter are available. The first certainly has an advantage in terms of percentage of coverage throughout the territory, but this remains relatively weak on the scale of France.

New CEO on paper

As proven by filings in the Trade and Companies Register, Grégory Rabuel became the manager of Prixtel this summer. Having already worked for Numericable, the CEO has been at the head of SFR for over a year now after a faultless career. In particular, he was in charge of the sales teams in the past, among other things in the context of the development of physical stores.

It is difficult to know what the possible consequences will be for Prixtel customers. No announcement having been made to contradict this, however, it seems that MVNO subscriptions should remain at least in the coming weeks. Maybe even in the long term.
