We saw him this morning;the new external batterymade inCupertino is out. Subtitled MagSafe, it recharges in several ways. The most obvious is of course through its female Lightning connector, to which you simply need to connect a suitable mains charger to power it. But there is another, a little less obvious, so much so that Apple actually had to take the time to describe it in a detailed guide on its official website.
We can thus read that with the MagSafe battery paired to itsiPhone 12, you actually just need to recharge one of them… to power both at the same time! Ingenious, practical and almost essential. But this doesn't remind you of anything? According to most media across the Atlantic, this is in fact a situation entirely comparable to that of reverse wireless charging that can be found, for example, at Samsung. To illustrate this, the example of headphonestrue wirelessto place on the hull of a Galaxy is probably the most telling.
Only for Apple at first?
For the moment, however, it seems that only the MagSafe external battery is affected by this advantage... Indeed, no matter how hard we try, nothing allows you to wirelessly charge another device via the back cover of the iPhone (and that's too bad). Several possibilities then become available:
- it is only a software or hardware blockage cleverly established by Apple and which will remain so
- the limitation will be lifted, but only for the benefit of Apple devices: we can then imagine applications with the AirPods Pro or the Watch Series 7
- or better: third-party accessory manufacturers will soon also have the right to benefit from this advantage
So, what do you think Apple has in store for us?
