Christmas has barely passed and it's already falling
some balance sheets. The analysis of the gifts found under
the tree this year confirms the trend according to which smartphones with
large screen sizeare selling better and better. Indeed,
according to analyses, compared to the end of previous years, in the
sale of mobile devices, the share of large boxesn’a
never been so important:
The data comes from an analysis report from the specialized firm
Flurry Analytics. As can be seen in the representation
graph below, in the distribution of sales of new smartphones,
there are more than6 times more large screen smartphonesin
this end of 2015 compared to the end of 2013.
Two years ago,64 %new mobile devices
were mid-sized smartphones and only 4% were
phablets or smartphones with large screen sizes. In 2014, this same percentage
reached13 points, recovering some shares on the
tablets especially.
From 2013 to 2014, the rate of mid-sized smartphones among devices
mobile phones sold remained fairly stable (around 63%). It was in 2015 that this
rate experienceda significant fall, with 10 points less,
to reach 54%.
And while tablets have also seen their share shrink a little further, this
are the smartphones with large screen sizes that have benefited from this, to
rise to27% share of mobile devices sold, either the
double the share of 2014.
If the trend persists over the next year, we should logically
see, in Santa's hood version 2016, fewer and fewer tablets
and mid-sized smartphones, and one morerecord percentage of
large size smartphones.
