Nokiawho had been a market leader for 14 years
of mobile telephony and which is trying to relaunch itself with its new range of
mobile underWindows Mobilejust gave in
its leadership position at Samsung.
And if the turnaroundNokiafor Windows Mobile will put some
time to materialize in terms of sales, its competitors are not idle
not either. Even if sales during this first quarter are down
for all manufacturers, it isAppleWho
does the best and thus becomes themarket leader in
smartphones:
As we told you in the preamble, mobile sales have declined
during this first quarter of 2012 compared to the sales records of the quarter
precedent which coincided with the end-of-year holidays.
So, on themobile phone market,
Samsungtakes the place ofleader with 92 million
cell phones sold(-13% compared to the 4th quarter 2011) ahead of
Nokia with 83 millionphones sold (-27% compared to
at the figures for the end of 2011).
Apple comes in 3rd position with 35 millionof devices
sold compared to 37 million at the end of 2011 (only -5%) thanks to a more
expanded now represented by the iPhone 3GS, the iPhone 4 and theiPhone 4S.
Thanks to its sustained sales rate,Apple becomes leader in the
successful smartphone marketwith35 millions d’iPhone
elapsed(still a small drop of 5% compared to the end of
the year 2011) in frontSamsung with 32 millionmobile
sold (compared to 36 million at the end of 2011, a drop of 11%) andNokia
with 12 millionof mobiles sold (compared to 20 million at the end of 2011, i.e.
a drop of 39%).
Without drawing hasty conclusions, we can still move forward
thatAppleetSamsungare
currently appropriate for the successful smartphone market.
It will be interesting to follow sales in the following months as
given that the successor of theiPhone 4Sis not
expected only for the fall whileSamsung is expected to announce its
Galaxy S3 in May.
