Forums and other social networks are flooded with complaints from usersApple. Despite their refusal to install macOS Sonoma,it seems that the operating system was still installed in many people.
Simple error or forceful passage by Apple?
Since January 10, macOS Ventura users have been receiving regular notifications to upgrade to Sonoma. As a reminder, this is the twentieth version of macOS, whichwas presented on June 5, 2023, on the occasion of Apple's WWDC. Despite the latter's attractive features, as well as Apple's praise for it, many users have refrained from upgrading.
And for good reason, it is rare for a new operating system to work perfectly in the months following its launch. This was not lacking with Sonoma users, who quickly encountered difficulties with the operating system, which consequently slowed down others from taking the plunge. So, the people who are complaining about the update being forced into force seem to be among them. They did not want to carry out the update and found themselves forced to do so a few days ago.
Apple did not react
Cupertino has not yet provided any information regarding this matter. However, it is unlikely that this will be a forced move. If this had been the case, the firm would not have taken care to notify its users by giving them the choice to upgrade their computer or not. We imagine that this is simply a bug and that there is no desire to force people to move to Sonoma.
If this has happened to you and you don't want to keep this version, note that there are methods to revert to macOS Ventura.MacRumorsindicates for example that this can be achieved “using a bootable installer to erase and install the old version, then restoring your data from a Time Machine backup. Always make sure to back up your data before downgrading a Mac.»
