THEMacAlthough they may be critically acclaimed machines, they are nonetheless better than with a large display. Both useful for journalism and graphics, this solution is however quite limited at Apple with a 24-inch iMac M1 or a 16-inch MacBook Pro for machines with the largest panels.
Otherwise, it is also possible to purchase aexternal monitorfrom the Californian manufacturer: the Studio Display (from 1,749 euros for 27″) or the Pro Display XDR, which is much more expensive (from 5,499 euros for 32″). But according to last minute information shared by consultant Ross Young, this range could soon be expanded with the arrival of a second 27″ diagonal with mini-LED technology by the month ofoctober. Or just after the usual period when Apple organizes a big keynote to announce the release of new products.
What characteristics does this device have?
For the moment, it is difficult to know more, however, the advantages ofmini-LEDare well known to specialists. We're talking about better contrasts, deeper blacks and even improved brightness. Add to this lower power consumption, and you get what looks like a Studio Display Pro, the real name of course remains to be discovered.
Moreover, we assume that this screen will also be entitled toCentered Frame functionality like the current model. It could also be powered byiOS, but without users being able to directly access its interface. Finally, the image refresh rate would reach one hundred and twenty images per second as is the case onMacBook Pros that hit the market late last year.
Prices and alternatives
Without a doubt, this supposedly more promising technical sheet should also be reflected in an increasing price. While we were expecting an affordable monitor from Apple, here we would be talking about a high-end model although still less expensive than the Pro Display XDR. A little earlier this year, prices revolving around2 500 euroshad been mentioned in the press.
However, other manufacturers offer much more interesting alternatives for a small budget, like BenQ.
