Very positive reviews

The first feedback on the series is very positive. So,Sugargets a 3.9 out of 5 rating onAlloCinéwhile spectators give it a score of 3.3. French side, Stéphanie Guerrinfrom the Parisiangreets as follows:

Colin Farrell plays the title role with virtuosity, a character tortured by a mysterious past during which he lost his sister. Showing deep humanity while being prey to outbursts of violence, John Sugar has many surprises in store.

Same story with Laura Miller ofSlate: “Splendid, elegant... Farrell's performance is imbued with a restrained and melancholy tenderness that permeates the series. …. Sugar's gentleness is a kind of superpower, a wild card in a world where almost everyone can be expected to behave badly. That's not the most unusual thing about him, but it's what makes him worth watching.”
