Cross-app tracking: apps now forced to ask the question

That's it, Apple has finally appliedwhich was announced several months ago now. For several hours now, developers can no longer offer apps that do not comply with the new iOS conditions of use regarding user data.

For example, if an app wants to benefit from cross-application tracking, it must now make the request to the user. This is a new feature presented a few months ago by the Californian giant. The latter had also announced that its implementation would ultimately be a condition of acceptance on the App Store for the apps concerned.

This means that the application validation teams of the iOS app store no longer accept apps using cross-application tracking without requesting permission for use and without more generally respecting the new conditions of use of tracking cross-application. Several applications have already been refused, including Heetch, Radish Fiction and InnoGames.

Remember that the request appears in the form of a pop-up window when opening an app. See capture below.

The choice made by the user when displaying this window is not necessarily unchangeable. Just go toSettings > Privacy > Trackingto see the list of applications for which tracking has been activated or deactivated, with the possibility of deactivating or activating the function on a case-by-case basis (bottom list of applications with respective switch) or for all applications (top switch: “ Allow tracking requests from apps”).
