Extortion attempt using “Find my iPhone”

Nowadays, one of the
Popular ways for hackers to make money is to
block user data and give them access for a ransom.
This sometimes happens on Windows, more rarely on Mac, so the threat is
arrival on iOS, or almost... According to the Dutch site AppleTips,
hackers attempt to trick gullible users into believing that their device has
been compromisedusing “Find my iPhone”to lock
the iPhone and display a message demanding payment of a “ransom”.

Les pirates affichent le message : "This device is locked. Unlock 50$.
Email for details: [email protected]".

This trick certainly won't work for everyone, because one
user somewhat familiar with their device and iOS knows that it is possible
to remove this messageusing the unlock codeof
l’iPhone.

Furthermore, to implement this type of subterfuge, the "hackers" must
first find access to the user's Apple IDs. It is
particularly the case of users using the same login/word combination.
passes through several websites and for which one of the databases has been
hacked.

To protect yourself against this type of mishap, it is essential
to have aunique login/passwordfor his iCloud account,
but also to activatetwo-step authenticationpour son Apple ID.
