A 32-inch screen for the new iMac of 2024?

Apple could unveil a new iMac, larger thanthe current model, starting next year. The device would be equipped with a large panel of no less than thirty-two inches, compared to twenty-one for the edition available today. We of course do not yet know the technical sheet, however the presence of a proprietary processor is almost certain. Since the end of 2020, all the new computers presented by Apple have in fact been powered by an in-house component, even if assembled by the subcontractor TSMC upstream.

The iMac's value proposition is that of an all-in-one computer, delivered today with its keyboard and mouse (or touchpad). It now costs at least 1,549 euros for the base model, equipped with USB-C sockets and compatible with the new macOS Ventura operating system. Presented during the Worldwide Developer Conference, this however remains shunned by certain consumers, because it potentially presents rather annoying bugs. The fault is its release date, considered too recent to have sufficient confidence in it.

A machine for professionals?

This next large iMac could also prove to be particularly efficient, with a graphics card made up of many cores and a lot of RAM. The offer would then clearly be reminiscent of that ofl’iMac Pro, released in 2017 but removed from shelves a few months ago.

Should we recognize the potential nomenclature of the future device, in the form of a second generation? Difficult to know at the moment, especially if the product in question does not come out for a year or more. But freelancers are particularly fond of the brand, notably thanks to the excellent definition of the display – rather well suited for graphics or video editing.

iMac 21″: the technical sheet

Today, the iMac with a twenty-one-inch screen offers a resolution of 4,480 x 2,520 pixels for a brightness of five hundred nits. The M1 chip under the hood integrates an eight-core CPU and a seven-core graphics card, for the base model. Count on eight or sixteen gigabytes of RAM – the second option is obviously more expensive.

A FaceTime HD camera is included for videos, and the 2021 iMac is Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 compatible.
