An iPhone 6s, but… two different A9 chips!

Do you have the “Samsung” iPhone 6s or the “TSMC” iPhone 6s? To find out,
il
would have to disassemble the iPhone
and measure the size of the A9 chip used by
the machine, but we do not recommend it, unless you are part of the staff
d’iFixit.

Indeed, according to Chipworks, an American company which analyzes patents
and technologies used in technical products, les iPhone 6s
recently sold are equipped with two different A9 chips
.

The Californian giant uses two A9 chips from two different manufacturers,
Samsung and TSMC. Classic, certainly, but notable:the chip of
Samsung is 10% smaller than TSMC
, but don't worry
not the performances are the same, no additional battery with the bit
space freed up!

Apple, as usual, chose this option first of all to achieve
the desired volumes but also in order not to be dependent on a single
supplier… Especially when it comes to a component as important as the
new A9 processor, and that the manufacturer is friend/enemy Samsung with whom
Apple has both legally strained and close relationships
when it comes to supplying components.
