The iPod touch is an Apple product that must surely bring back memories for many of us. A legendary product of the 2000s, it is the culmination of several years of work and reflection on the Cupertino side. While the first model was released in 2007, the second version of this touchscreen player will be released in 2008, arriving with technical new features in spades.
If the iPod touch doesn't start from scratch, which is the direct descendant of the iPod. It is above all there to prepare for the future and the arrival of touchscreen with the iPhone, while Apple's first phone had just been released.
As for the second generation iPod touch, it has several very different features. Indeed, it has a stainless steel back, which was not the case on the first version of the player. Another new feature for this second generation is the arrival of an integrated speaker.
New features that were visible many months before the product was released, on the development prototypes of the iPod touch. Indeed, and as AppleDemo has just demonstrated on its Twitter account,iPod touches were entitled to test versionsquite close to the model which will enter the market.
Prototype Apple iPod touch 2nd Generation (DVT Stage). This iPod touch was manufactured in early 2009, likely being a “revised BootROM” version of the iPod Touch 2nd Generation; that had the 24Kpwn hardware exploit patched.#appleinternal pic.twitter.com/C1eopFu0gR

On this prototype, we already find what will make the big difference between the first and second generation of these iPod touches. With a stainless steel back, this prototype also has a speaker, integrated into the top of the player.
It is interesting to see how Apple left space between its components, something that the Cupertino company can no longer afford to do today. At the time there were fewer components, so it was possible to make an iPod touch with a size of 3.5 inches without piling all the components on top of each other.
