Apple Vision Pro: is the mouse support or no at the end?

  • The visionos operating system has gone through beta 3
  • New accessibility options have been added
  • Bluetooth devices would no longer be supported by the system

On June 5, the Worldwide Developers Conference 2023 took place on June 5, Apple announced its very first “space computer”: the pro vision. The firm took the opportunity to make a presentation that taped the canvas. We then discovered a whole new way of using digital content, with their visual integration into our environment.

To control this helmet with the look, the voice, or gestures, the Apple developers have developed the Visionos system. Last Tuesday August 29, a third beta version of the operating system was made available by the Cupertino firm, including major new products (not only).

Not for everyone

As a reminder, only people with the developer kit are currently able to use the Apple mixed reality headset. Its obtaining is conditioned on the creations or the adaptation of applications or games for pro vision. The apple firm mentions on its site:"Applications will be examined and the priority will be given to candidates creating an application taking advantage of the functionalities and capacities of visionos".

The lucky ones are therefore subject to very strict rules on the part of the Californian. They are handpicked in order to ensure the consistency and confidentiality of the project and cannot, for example, show the helmet to their families.

Under these conditions, making a real opinion on recent changes in the mixed reality headset is complicated. However, the Cupertino firm allows all developers part of its program to testVisionos on their mac. The experience is obviously not the same, but nevertheless allows you to have an idea concerning the changes introduced with this third beta in particular.

New, more mouse?

In addition to those presented by Apple when the pro vision was announced, Visionos Beta 3 incorporates new accessibility options. More specifically, the possibility of controlling the helmet with a single eye, or that of controlling it without the fingers.

Curiously,The use of mouse and keyboard is no longer availableWith this update. While the previous versions allowed, the beta 3 now displays a message of non -management of the Bluetooth devices.

Furthermore :

  • Certain sound effects as well as icons have been updated
  • Launch entertainment for panoramic images and space videos have been updated
  • An icon"No wifi"also appeared in the event of disconnection
  • Informative and alert messages have been added to improve the user experience
  • The beta 3 code indicates that the pro vision could be compatible with controllers
  • Now the Opticid (IRIS sensor) is deactivated after a period of 48 hours of helmet inactivity or when it restarts
