Apple is reportedly developing a brand new service, called Presto. The concept of the latter is very simple, the idea is to use the time spent by the iPhones in their boxes to update them. So people who buy an iPhone do not have to start using it by waiting for long minutes forthe latest version of iOS is installed.
Thanks to Presto,Apple would like to take care of these updatesbefore marketing, to simplify the user's life and allow new owners to enjoy their iPhone from the first second.
If several rumors in recent weeks had already mentionedthe arrival of the Presto servicenext September, the first images of this feature have just arrived on the web. They were published by our colleagues at iGeneration.

Presto: an invisible but essential service?
According to the latest report from analyst Mark Gurman, the Presto service must use “MagSafe and other wireless technologies” to turn on the phone and apply the update. In its article, iGeneration mentions the use of the NFC chip to ensure the transfer of information.
If Apple succeeds in updating its iPhones like this, it could meanthe death of physical charging portson Apple devices. This was one of Steve Jobs' dreams and the Cupertino teams have been working for years now to reduce ports andbuttonson Apple phones.
The end of a charging port nevertheless implies the deployment of a wireless charging solution capable of circulating energy, this is the case with MagSafe, but also data. Presto therefore seems to be at the forefront on this point, allowing Apple to test a functionality that could become central to our lives before the end of the decade.
