Are you a victim of package theft? The Air Tag may be the solution!

Mail theft is unfortunately commonplace, both in France and in the United States. Most victims find themselves helpless in the face of this scourge which can have serious consequences, even if recourse exists. A woman from Los Alamos, California, paid the price several times recently. After a while, however,the woman decided to act against the thieves. To do this, she found an ingenious technique, worthy of Sherlock Holmes.

AirTag to the rescue

Our heroine of the day, whose identity has not been revealed, took matters into her own hands. Anticipating new mail thefts,she sent herself a package containing an AirTag.

When it was stolen, she immediately informed her local police office in Santa Barbara County. Thanks to the GPS tracking of the AirTag,the police were able to quickly trace the suspects.

The culprit? a couple of serial thieves

Donald Ashton Terry and Virginia Francesca Lara, originally from Santa Maria,were arrested. In their possession, police found not only the victim's package, but also items belonging to more than a dozen other people.

The couple is now charged with possession of checks with intent to commit credit card theft, ID card theft and fraud. Lara is detained under$50,000 bail, while Terry, also wanted for other crimes, saw hisbail set at $460,000.

As the sheriff's office points out, the victim showed great proactivity and caution in his approach. His trick with the AirTag, combined with the rapid intervention of the police, made it possible to put an end to the actions of this couple of serial thieves.
