Among the many applications
instant messaging services available on the App Store, Whatsapp has managed to
back off.
In a recent interview, the CEO of Whatsapp said that
the app currently
available on iOS for €0.89was going to change model to move to a
solution with subscription. At the same time, he cut short any
possibility of seeing WhatsApp arrive on computer.
Instant messaging is currently on the rise, but for
At the moment, none have really managed to bring everyone together. It is precisely
what Google may be about to do:
Let's go back to Whatsapp for a few moments. As Jan Koum clarified,
Whatsapp is currently available for €0.89. Once the app
purchased, the user can send as many messages as they wish to
other platforms without ever paying anything.
During the year,Whatsapp should move to an annual subscription
d’1$which already exist on Android and BlackBerry. Visibly,
cthose who already have the app should not have to pay
nouveau. This is a good way to boost sales before moving on to
suite.
While Whatsapp is a cross-platform solution, it is not available on
computer and the CEO said she never would.
The quest for a truly universal messaging service is not
so not finished. If iMessage is available on iPhone, iPad and Mac,
the app is limited to Apple products. Likewise,MessageMe
which we talked about very recentlyoffers to send each other
messages from smartphones and tablets but forgot
the computer.
You understand, there is undoubtedly still room for a solution
which could be truly universal between smartphone, tablet and
computer and which would be on top of different operating systems.
This may be what Google is preparing with a unified messaging service
available everywhere.
According to rumor,Babble regrouperait Google Talk, Google Messenger,
Google Voice in a single messaging systemwho would come
integrate with all Google services. We can easily imagine that this new
service, probably presented during Google I/O in May, will be present
on all platforms in Google apps or in an app
specific.
All we have to do now is wait and see. Would you be a customer of a
truly universal and free messaging?
