Apple could unveil two fourth-generation AirPods models at the end of the year2024, according to Mark Gurman. One edition would be more affordable than the other, and should allow the American brand to stop marketing previous collections. These are still available for small budgets today; for example, you can treat yourself to the second generation of wireless headphones if the third is too expensive for you.
At the same time, Mark Gurman also believes that the new version of the AirPods Max wireless headset is planned for2025. Few details have leaked regarding its possible technical sheet, however an improved processor may be under the hood. The chips are designed by Apple, in partnership with a major subcontractor responsible for assembling them: TSMC. It is also rumored that the AirPods Max will be entitled to new colors, but nothing similar on the horizon for wireless headphones.
A fairly reliable source previously
If we do not hesitate to relay this information, it is above all because Mark Gurman is often cited as being one of the most reliable Apple specialist informants. The latter notably shares rumors in the corridors within the weekly newsletter Power On published byBloomberg, a source widely followed by investors. The press agency also devotes numerous other articles to Cupertino's financial results, the latest of which date from the beginning of February.
What's new for AirPods 4?
The AirPods 4 could see the light of day in September, because it is generally on this date that Apple organizes a keynote in its Californian auditorium.
Concerning the basic model, little is known except that its value proposition should be very close to that of theAirPods 3 available in Apple Store today.
The more affordable fourth-generation AirPods, however, could benefit from theactive noise reduction. An advantage limited only to AirPods Pro and AirPods Max to date, which should therefore also prove to be synonymous with an increasing price for the pair on the way to September.
