Video on iPhone: HTML 5 format continues to progress

Rememberce
billet
that we did 1 year ago on a video demonstration on
iPhone via you HTML5.

At the time, we were looking for sites that could free themselves from the
Flash technology.

1 year later,mefeedia
reports to usexceptional progression of videos that we can
now consult in HTML5
based onmore than 33,000
sources
(33,533 to be precise)!

The results in the rest of the post.

According tomefeedia, and
THEvideos viewable in HTML5 represented 10% in January 2010,
they represented 26% in May 2010, 54% in October 2010 to reach 63%
in February 2011
.

The H.264 codec is by far the most used followed by (WebM) and Ogg. If the
WebM usage share is still low, it could accelerate if
YouTube used it as the default codec.

Another figure, which is less surprising, is thevideos
consulted from a mobile terminal which represented 1% of traffic
(non-Flash) in January 2010 increased to 5%
.

Progress due to improved iOS support from
of many large online video streaming services.

What do you think of these statistics? Have you noticed that more and more
More videos are accessible on your iPhone?
