TheParrot AR.DRone quadcopterbrings out the geek side
that it has been in us since its release, but unfortunately it is not at the
reach of all budgets (it is in fact
sold here for example at 299 euros).
Probably inspired, the accessories specialist
Griffinwill propose a much less ambitious solution
but also less expensive ($56). This is theHelo, and
double propeller helicopter (analogous to the famous Picooz) which is controlled via a
IR accessory to plug into the iPhone (battery powered):
A free dedicated application will then allow it to be controlled for
the 8 minutes offered by a full charge (via USB). This app
will offer virtual buttons but also theopportunity to lead
the helicopter via the iPhone's accelerometer. It will also be possible
ofsave 3 flight planson the iPhone, what to do next
play helicopter again.
LEDs for "night" flights are integrated into the device, but
no onboard camera like on the AR.Drone.
As for availability, it will be there before Christmas 2011. Small toys
for big boys 😉 Little Santa Claus, who forgot me for the Parrot…
Will you think of me this year 😉
