In 2023, you will no longer need a network to connect

We have been talking for several months about the arrival ofiPhone with satellite connectivity. The problem is that this is only information from analysts or leaks not confirmed by Apple itself. It is therefore impossible to be sure, and even less to know when this change, much awaited by some, will arrive.

T-Mobile, one of the main American operators, has just announced a historic partnership with SpaceX as part of theprogramme Starlink. Elon Musk's network of low-orbit satellites will thus be used to provide unlimited Internet access to all mobile customers who wish it, all around the globe. Almost100% of the earth's surfacewill then be covered.

The end of white areas, finally!

In this way,Starlinkcould for the first time realize its promise of connecting the entire world, including the most remote areas. Certainly T-Mobile is not yet present in all countries, but this is a first major step for the access provider and which will then allow SpaceX to add a new string to its bow to try, perhaps, to convince other service providers in Europe.

In theory, it is therefore also the end of the “white zones” which is coming. Under this term hide the few rare territories which are not yet covered by any 4G antenna or by any mobile network.

Compatibility

T-Mobile clearly announced it: a “vast majority” of smartphones will be affected by this new offer. With the title of world number one in several categories, current iPhonesare therefore obviously in the list even if officially the eligible models have not been confirmed by the company.

With the end of the white areas, the number ofdisappearanceson the high seas, in immense natural parks or in deserts could then fall drastically. The only drawback, which continues to question specialists: the sky could fall on our heads, in the event of a collision between the satellites which multiply by the hundred above us...
