Since the iPhone 7, Intel has provided processors
for iPhones alongside Qualcomm. The latter was the exclusive subcontractor
from Apple for processors from previous models.
But Qualcomm is currentlyin
lawsuit with the apple companyand for several months already. THE
specialist in mobile chips was notably accused by the company of
Cupertino of anti-competitive practices.
While awaiting the outcome of this trial, which could last several more years,
according to a new report from Fast Company newspaper,Apple would work
with Intelto preparethe adoption of 5G in the future
iPhone.
Qualcomm currently has a technological lead over Intel in the
field of 5G, however Intel is catching up thanks in particular to
thousands of engineers working on this technology.
Intel's modem division is progressing slowly and a deal with Apple to
supplying their future machines would be a huge opportunity.
This will not, however, concern the next iPhone, because before being able to
use 5G, it will be necessary for smartphone manufacturers and
telephone operators carry out serious technical updates,
particularly at the mobile network level.
