The new Mac mini revealed by mistake, Apple switches to USB-C

A recent survey by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) reveals thatconsumers over 45 particularly appreciate the Mac mini. Apple's desktop computer is also a hit among buyers under 34. These two categories of customers are undoubtedly impatiently awaiting the October keynote during which the Apple brand will present its Mac mini M4. Good news for them,Apple just accidentally revealed its new desktop computer.

The new Mac mini does have five USB-C ports according to the macOS code

This is a major discovery, which will perhaps force Mac mini enthusiasts to change their equipment. While digging through the macOS 15 code, MacRumors reporter Aaron Perris came acrossthe mention of a Mac mini with five USB-C ports. This discovery gives credence to the words of Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. This assured at the beginning of September that theApple's Mac mini would havefive USB-C ports without any USB-A connector, although this last point still remains to be confirmed.

Note that some of the USB-C connectors on the new Mac mini would be Thunderbolt 4 ports, which is not very surprising. The current Mac mini released in January 2023 has four Thunderbolt 4 ports and two USB-A ports. In addition, the 2024 model would be half the size of its predecessor. Of course, the mention “Apple silicon Mac mini (5 Port)” discovered in the macOS code suggests that it will indeed have an M4 chip.

Even if this revelation lifts the veil on the Mac mini's connectivity, we must now wait for confirmation from Apple. The American manufacturer could present its new desktop computer, as well as the MacBook Pro M4 and a new version of the iPad Mini during akeynote organized in October.
