Good news for Apple, the Mac mini is still popular. A survey by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners reveals that desktop computers are particularly popular with those over 45. The organization analyzed the recovered Apple consumer dataviasurveys between 2012 and 2024 to draw this observation.So we learn 31% of Mac mini buyers are 45 or older.
Note that the desktop computer is also popular with younger people. 24% turn to the Mac mini compared to 26% to laptops, although one might believe a much more unbalanced relationship. Obviously, Apple's portable Macs remain particularly popular among younger people. They are popular withalmost two thirds of buyers under 34and only 7% of people over 55 (and even 3% of those over 55%).
It's not particularly surprising that older people, who grew up with desktop computers, continue to favor purchasing a Mac mini over a laptop.The CIRP also points out that the base model with M2 chip costs €699, much less than other Apple desktop computers.This is a strong argument, especially since the Mac mini can look head-to-head with some Windows PCs without having to be ashamed of its performance.
