Are you waiting for the next Mac Mini to come out? We have good news. Compared to the models currently available, these could take a huge leap in performance. As a reminder, the latest Mac Mini was released in January 2023 and Apple offers it with the M2 or M2 Pro chips. And logic would dictate that the next generation of Mac Mini would be offered with chipsM3 or M3 Pro.
However, according to the latest newsletter from Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman,Apple could move directly to M4 chips for the next generation of Mac Mini.As a reminder, this is today one of the most reliable (unofficial) sources of information regarding future Apple products.
According to MacRumors, Gurman previously discussedthe release of a Mac Mini equipped with M4 or M4 Pro chips, for the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025.And in his latest newsletter, the journalist would have specified that the Cupertino company should skip the Mac Mini with M3 chips and go directly to the M4.
Apple Silicon chips designed for AI?
Obviously, since these are still only rumors, caution remains in order. But if Mark Gurman's information is correct, this would mean that compared to the Mac Minis of 2023, those of 2024 (or early 2025) will be significantly more efficient. Additionally, thanks to the M4 series of chips, these future computers could have significant artificial intelligence capabilities.
As a reminder, Apple has not yet made officialM4 chips. However, in a previous article, Mark Gurman had mentioned the preparation of this new generation of processors for Mac, the production of which would be imminent. Although the M3 chips are still new, Apple has reportedly accelerated the development and production of the M4 generation, in order to boost sales.
