A journalist reveals the potential release date of 7 Macs with M4 chip!

No less thanfour new Macs with an M4 series chip could see the light of day this year. This is what a new report from the journalist ofBloombergMark Gurman, the latter having regularly been right in the past in guessing the future of Apple products.

Mark Gurman believes in particular that aMacBook Proof 14 inches with M4 chip could arrive in stores by the end of 2024, succeeding the current model equipped, for its part, with the M3 processor. At the same time, it is aiMacof 24 inches which could arrive with the same motherboard under the hood.

Next year, we could also be entitled to two14- and 16-inch MacBook Prowith M4 Pro and M4 Max chip, a Mac mini in M4 or M4 Pro, 13- and 15-inch MacBook Air in M4 around the spring, as well as new Mac Studio and Mac Pro probably for the second half of the year . To be sure, however, you will have to wait. Indeed, Apple has not confirmed this potential agenda. The company generally prefers to keep its projects confidential until the actual presentation of its products during a keynote, or through a simpler press release.

What do we know about the software?

All of these new Apple computers should be powered by the macOS 15 operating system. The name of this version remains to be defined, and should be unveiled, along with all associated additional features, at the Worldwide Developer Conference scheduled for June.

It is rumored that macOS 15 should notably give pride of place to numerous changes boosted byartificial intelligence. The proprietary voice assistant Siri, now natively integrated into all Macs, would benefit greatly from this wave of improvements. A good thing, in our opinion, given that the answers provided by this AI remain indeed less efficient than the competition in many situations.

Among the new AI features planned for macOS 15, it is also assumed that its developer could allow us to generate playlists automatically with Apple Music, depending on our tastes. The availability of such an advantage on older versions of the operating system remains questionable, especially since the publisher would rely on offline processing of user data. This requires a certain amount of local computing power, supported by the Neural Engine. The latter, a key component of Apple processors, could go from sixteen to thirty-two cores, evolving from M3 to M4 on Mac and from A17 Pro to A18 on iPhone or iPad.

MacBook: expected and less likely changes

From what we know, future MacBooks could be equipped with a panelOLED. Still according to Mark Gurman, who specified it in previous reports, this improvement should not land in stores before 2027, it seems. We also think that in the long term, MacBooks could be equipped with biometric unlocking withFace ID, which allows face recognition with the TrueDepth sensor. Many iPhone models are already entitled to it, as well as certain tablets (iPad Pro).

According to certain patents that Apple cannot hide, because they are filed in a public register to protect its intellectual property, MacBooks could also be equipped with a wireless charging mat. However, we do not know if such an innovation will indeed see the light of day for the general public, but the technology would be well mastered by Tim Cook's company.
