Poll: Mendocino, Redwood, Diablo? What will macOS 15 be called?

macOS 15 is coming soon. We should discover the software at the upcoming WWDC. This will take place fromJune 10 to 14next and will open with ahighly anticipated conference, on Monday, June 10 at 7:00 p.m. French time.

During this event, we will learn more about the Californian firm's next systems, includingiOS 18and macOS 15 precisely. And if for the first of the two, the name should not present a surprise, for the second, Apple generally opts for a name in addition to the version number.

Last year, we got “Sonoma” for macOS 14. And before WWDC,we requestedyour opinion on the most appropriate and/or stylish name for the 2023 Mac software update. Here are the top 3 of your votes at the time from a list of 16 proposals.

  • Mammoth (19% of votes)
  • Sequoia (18 %)
  • Redwood (10 %)

A few weeks before the presentation of macOS 15, let's take the opportunity to relaunch this survey. Note that the list of choices is not made at random. These are brand namesalready registered by Apple and therefore protected, and initially provided byParker Ortolani Mr. X. We took care to remove “Sonoma” from the lot and add “Mendocino”, a name reported by an internal source at the Californian firm and associated with macOSsince 2022. This has never been used for a general public version of an Apple OS.

It's up to you to choose from this list of15 possibilities:

We have our little preference, but we keep it secret so as not to influence the vote in any way.

Finally, note that it is entirely possible that Apple will choose a name that is not on this list, for example by deciding to go with a new theme, after the animals of California (Mountain Lion, Snow Leopard, Leopard, Cheetah, etc. ), or the iconic geographic locations of the region (High Sierra, El Capitan, Mojave, etc.).
