Android and iOS clearly dominate the smartphone market

After a clear drop during the last
quarter of 2011,Android has regained momentum and has
started the year with sharply increasing sales
which go back by 49%
at 61%.

At the same time, and this is quite logical, iPhone sales are falling and
go from 41% in the last quarter of 2011 to 29% for the first three
month. RIM and Windows Phone share the remaining crumbs. Let's see this
in more detail:

Today, 2 out of 3 cell phones sold in the US are
smartphones. As a result, smartphones are gradually gaining popularity.
land and now represent a little more than half of the park of
mobiles.

According to Nielsen, among smartphones, Android and its multiple handsets
occupy 48.5% when Apple and its iPhones represent 32% of smartphones
activated. Together, the two successful OSes occupy more than 80% of the market.%%

Apple's good sales at the end of last year can be explained by
the release of the iPhone 4S, which took place exactly at this time, but also
thanks to the end-of-year celebrations conducive to sophisticated gifts. Over the quarter
last year, sales resumed their normal course, that is to say between 25 and
29%.

It will be interesting to follow the evolution of its figures during the launch
of the next iPhone which already seems highly anticipated.
