Remember your first PC, one of the
essential software at the time was WinZIp. Just the name should
necessarily tell you something. Several apps already allow you to
unzip files on iOS like for example
Unarchiver, more
WinZip sur iOSit’s still something.
A well-known utility that comes from the past, WinZip has decided to
make a place on iOS:
The free application is available in a universal version and offers you
to open compressed files directly on your iDevice.
Obviously, and like its Windowsian ancestor,WinZip only opens
the zip filesbut still offers:
- open attachments in zip format
- to open encrypted zips
- copy the contents of your zip files to your iPhone
- preview files in the following formats: txt, .doc,
.docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx, .rtf, .pdf, .key, .numbers, .pages, .htm,
.htm, .jsp, .bmp, .jpg, .jpeg, .tif, .tiff, .png, .gif
Far from being revolutionary, the application has the merit of existing and
it's fun to see this successful software come out of the past.
Who knows, soon you might be listening to your MP3s on Winamp for iOS after
have posted on your blog with Frontpage…Back to the future version
