Adyen also becomes compatible with Tap to Pay

Since its launch, Apple Pay has been such a success that the tool has even worried analysts from the largest banking groups on the planet. The principle, for users, consists of using the chipNFCof their iPhone to pay for a transaction by approaching a store's payment terminal. What if we reversed the roles?

This is what is proposedTap to Pay, a tool for merchants just invented by Cupertinoand allowing its mobiles to receive money as a TPE can do. Until now, however, the question of the first stores to benefit from it remained unanswered. This was without counting the recent announcement of Adyen,unicornDutch company with 266 million dollars raised.

First applications

In a press release published this week, FinTech explains that it is collaborating with Apple to launch Tap to Pay for some of its customers. Among them,Lightspeed, cash register software and e-commerce solution equipping brands such as Five Guys, Maison de la Poutine and golf clubs.

Adyen also mentions the case ofNewStore. Working with major ready-to-wear brands like Jack & Jones or Burton, the company is often compared to Shopify (which has already signed for an integration with Tap to Pay). Here, however, it is Vince, another dresser to whom the publisher provides his services, who will be entitled to contactless payment to begin with. The company offers men's and women's clothing and also sells bags, shoes and belts.

Compatibility

According to the information provided by Adyen and which we were able to consult,the iPhone XS and all models released afterwardwill be compatible with Tap to Pay. This represents a certain loss of profit for buyers of old versions, since the program had therefore been discovered with an update of iOS 15. Indeed,this operating system is also available on iPhone 8 or iPhone 7, among others.
