Google Maps adds a “weather” option to its application

To find out the weather on your iPhone, the easiest way is to use the eponymous application. But to know the weather in another city, you have to search for it in the application database. WithGoogle Maps, this step will soon no longer be necessary.

Indeed, Google's GPS navigation application now allows its users to know the weather of a place by simply clicking on it. This information will then be displayed among other data concerning the place (its opening hours, the level of attendance or the opinions of other Internet users).

Google Maps even gives the weather

Today Google Maps is used by millions of people to know the route to follow from point A to point B. But the application is not limited to that. Over the years, the application has not hesitated to reinvent itself and has launched several updates to introduce new features.

On Android as on iPhone,Google Mapsnow offers to know the weather. In addition to data on real-time conditions, it will be possible to have access to forecasts for the next 12 hours. Google Maps works with Weather.com to display ever more accurate and reliable data on weather conditions around the world.

Super-apps, the solution of tomorrow?

Constantly adding new features to an application that already seems perfect can raise questions. If the user experience is always better, Google's desire behind this update is also to maximize the time of use of its application.

The Californian firm, like all companies offering services via applications, is only remunerated based on the time spent on the application. We must therefore maximize the passage of each user, to generate ever more profit. In order to achieve this, applications do not hesitate to add external functionalities to their initial service.

Some “super-app” projects even want to group dozens of applications into one to centralize use on a single point. For the moment, the most telling example of“super-app”is WeChat in China, not yet very popular in the West.
