It's not Apple's most popular operating system. Yet tvOS is used every day by millions of people around the world, just like macOS and iOS. Present in all Apple TVs, this operating system has seen little change since its launch, Apple is also reportedly working on it.
Apple could launch a new version of the TV application and the OS at the beginning of December. This new version will centralize the services available within a single service. Above all, Apple wants to group the offers together in one application, its own.
A new “TV” application
With a catch-all application it will be possible to find services likeApple TV+obviously, but also other streaming platforms and rental or purchase services for films and series. A fairly logical strategy for Apple which has been trying for years to centralize as much as possible the use made of the Apple TV.
This desire for centralization and simplification desired by Apple goes back years. Steve Jobs had already announced that he wanted “the simplest user interface possible”. The Cupertino company had already reached a certain level of “ease of use” with the latest version of its application, but the next update scheduled for December should greatly speed things up.
Prepare for the future
By reviewing its application to make it simpler, Apple is gradually doing without the remote control. A more than logical choice when we know thatthe Vision Pro, the true symbol of Apple's development in recent years will not have the slightest controller. It will therefore need a simple interface, which can be controlled with a single gesture of the eye.
But the most complicated mission for Apple is not in Cupertino. Even by building the best application of all time, Apple will have to redouble its ingenuity to find the right formula to seduce its adversaries. Many companies have tried, long before Apple, to group all SVOD platforms in the same application, no one has succeeded so far. Apple is next on the list to try.
