Apple TV+and its rivals will soon have a new competitor in France. Warner Bros took advantage of the 39th edition of the International Audiovisual Content and Coproduction Market in Cannes to announce this Monday the arrival of its Max service (formerly HBO Max) in France. The launch is planned for summer 2024.
Max, a determined and serious service
The American entertainment giant hopes to become a key player in this market thanks to its global expansion next year. It thus intends to reach 130 million subscribers by 2025.
To convince its future customers, Max has a lot of content. We can notably cite the latest major HBO productions:House of the Dragons(le spin-off de Game of Thrones), ou encoreThe Last of Us, and the future Harry Potter remake.
As required by law, the streaming service must also offer a certain number of French productions. A series calledThe mythomaniac of the Bataclanis already in the pipeline, and it will tell the story of this scam created by a fake survivor of the November 2015 attacks in Paris.
Finally, and within the limits of the rights, Warner could also broadcast sports broadcasts and why not tennis, major cycling tours and Paris 2024 Olympic events, report our colleagues at01Net.
The launch of Max will also mark the end of the Warner Pass currently offered on Amazon Prime Video at a price of 10 euros per month. It provides exclusive access to HBO programs.
Finally, note that we do not know what Max's pricing offers will be. To get an idea, the platform offers subscriptions between 10 and 20 dollars in the United States.
